Hinke Weikamp makes monoprints in her studio in Utrecht out of materials she finds in nature. Intuitively, she isolates parts of plants to create new, non-existing plants. These parts are inked and placed under a etching-press, leaving behind a shadow of the plant on the paper. In her own way, she makes reference to the technique of flower drying through the images she creates.
Hinke also makes monoprints in which structures play an important role. She blows up printouts, resulting in mysterious new images that can no longer be traced back to the original object.
